    Hi,
I am wondering if anybody can help me ?, I had a Sony KDE-P42XS1 delivered last week and have a couple of questions if anybody has this or the 37inch model :-

What settings do you have your plasma on, contrast, brightness etc etc

Does anybody know how to put the plasma into a factory mode so i can see how many hours the plasma has been on for as I concerned this tv wasn't brand new when i recieved it.....all the channels were programmed in and they are not supposed to be !!

    Cheers for all your help

I have the 37" version and have turned down the contrast and brightness to 35 for running in. The movie setting looks about right to me with contrast/brightness (can't remember off hand which is still adjustable) turned down to about 50.

Don't know how you get in the factory settings, can't say as I've seen anything, but I can tell you box was sony sealed and there were no channels programmed when I got it.

Sorry for jumping in, but since you have the Sony KDE-P42XS1, can you tell me whether the speakers are detachable or not.

    Thanks,

    Nigel

I am about to buy one of these. Is there any reason (apart from this forum's aversion to ALIS) why I should not?

Go for it rover!! I've had mine (KE-P42XS1) for two weeks now and its fantastic. I'm watching movies with Sony 585 dvd-player (component leads+progscan) and tv thru digital broadcasting. I'm really pleased with my choice!
