Hi,

I'm torn between the Sony for £780 or the LG for £1000, leaning towards the Sony at the moment. Would really appreciate any advice.

The living room is fairly bright and the TV may be mounted on a wall, 90 degrees to a large bay window. Usage is general daytime tv show and nightime movie HDR watching and football. No gaming. Sky Q and all streaming platforms

Heres a summary, is this faily accurate

LG OLED

Advantages
  • Much better blacks
  • Better viewing angle (although the Sony with x wide viewing filter is pretty good)
  • HDMI 2.1/120K (moot point as we dont game)
  • More vibrate colours ?

Disavantages

The LG is the better tv mostly, but the issue around burn in (real or percieved?) and motion

Why just these two? If you are concerned about the motion processing of the CX, you could instead look at the Sony A8H.

Burn in risk is covered here:

You should ascertain if any of your usage will be high risk, before deciding burn in is a problem. It can differ person to person.

Colour on all TVs in this price bracket are going to be very good. OLED has the advantage of colours closer to black looking better, LCD has the advantage of brighter colours looking better.

With viewing angles, how much do you need? The LCD TV will be good 30-35 degrees but any more than that off centre and an OLED will look a lot better.
