    Hi All,

Just about to buy a new 28" Widescreen TV... and have narrowed it down to the following two Sony's:

KD-28DX200 - the 100Hz one with all the gizmos and freeview. EmpireDirect are selling it for £705, but local shop can only do it for a whopping £848 - their best price!

KD-28DX51 - the 50Hz freeview model (black and silver). EmpireDirect £470, local shop best £600 - they can't understand how it can be so cheap on line, and have priced matched before...

Anyway, considering it's quite a jump in price, obviously the dx200 is the better set with all the enhancements, but the dx51 is a great price. Would we notice the 50Hz to 100Hz difference and the other enhancements.
(We are used to an older Sony KV-28LS36 - which isn't ours)

Any advice very useful, and if anyone has supplier recommendations that'd be great too!

    Thanks in advance!

    It depends.

The 50Hz Wegas can have an extremely pure and clear picture. My nearly 5 year old set is like this, DRCMF can look good but can also look funny on writing B becomes 8 however it can improve the picture

    You MUST try for yourself!

Thanks for that - looked at both today as suggested, for the extra money I don't think the 100hz is worth it. Was very impressed with the picture on the KD-28DX51 - amazingly local retailer has finally agreed to match (almost) EmpireDirect at £500 all in - so brought it there and then - that's £150 off their price tag, yesterday got it to £600, today to £500 - amazing what a bit of persuading can do! Should arrive in the morning!

Just thought I'd update this, for anyone looking to buy a Sony KD-28DX51.

Had it delivered yesterday, and am very impressed.
Setup was instant, found virtually all the Freeview channels and then all 5 analogue ones within a few minutes, requiring no manual setup.

Picture quality is superb, flawless on digital, virtually as crisp on analogue. Switching between digital and analogue is a breeze, but as signal is perfect on digital, unlikly we'll use analogue at all.

It looks good with the stand, not half as imposing as an older Wega we used with the boxed in stand.

Also it has a hidden PCMCIA slot and modem connect at the back - assume will be used for pay-for-view freeview at a later stage.

If you are considering this TV, I can really recommend it - a very happy customer!
