The following models are to be given a new software update (version 3.00), to solve problems with BBC multiscreens, etc.

    DX40, DX100, NX100, DX150 & NX200

The update will commence on 29/12/03 and continue until 05/01/04

Leave the set tuned to one of the BBC channels for a couple of hours during this time. After the download, switching the set off/on will allow the new software to take effect.

    Information taken from DTG website

Installing yourself or by an aerial installer?

A profesionally installed one by an aerial dealer would cost between £60 and £120

Doing it yourself however saves alot of money and can be had for about £20 to £25 (although if you don't know what you are doing it can be VERY dangerous) from places like Maplins and TLC direct, a quick search on the maplin site shows one for £20 code no. MZ40T.

If you decide to have it installed profesionally use a member of the CAI, theres a search function on the site to find a local installer.

The TV doesn't matter. It depends on your location and the signal strength of your transmitter.

Once you know what type of aerial you want (selected on the basis of desired gain, immunity to interference etc.) then you can check out prices on pages like this one.

    *** Fix for 12 Flashing LED for KD-36NX200U ***

If your power LED is flashing 12 times, use the following steps to resolve it:

Turn off TV (Mine is a KD-36NX200U)

From the fold down front pannel, hold down :

    "Prog +" & "Prog -" buttons

Turn on TV (You will see "TT00" on the screen)

Press "66" and your LED will flash.

Press "00" to exit and your done.

    Hope this helps

    Wow

I'm glad I just happened to stumble across this, just two days before the update. Since I tend to watch Freeview only when I'm recording cable, there's every chance my set could be tuned away from a BBC channel for months at a time. I s'pose it could be argued that I don't really need the upgrade in this case, but one likes to have the latest.

I'm curious - what happens if, not knowing anything about this, you happen to miss the window. Is there any way the set will get the update, or do you just have to wait till another one is released?

I have tried to update my Tv for the last two days without success :(
I even received an email from Sony confirming the upgrade dates as being the 19th to 26th January.
Has anyone had any updates yet?

You know that you need to leave the set tuned to Digital BBC 1 for about 2hrs.

After that, turn the set off, then back on again to complete the update.

You should now be able to confirm that the software version no has changed.

I have a Sony DX150, updated the software but couldn't get the multicreen news etc to work.

You need to manually tune in channel 701 702 & 703.

    works fine

I have a Sony KV32DX30 idtv, will this updated software cover this model.
If so, does the electronic programme guide change its version number? Mine currently states V1.01.

V1.01 is very out of date! Mines been updated 3 times since that release! Mines currently on 1.08, but that was done probably 6 months ago, so not sure if there is a new update. I would contact sony and get them to send out an update card. You obviously can't get a picture on parliament?

How can you tell when this software has been downloaded ?
Left my DX30 on for 3 hours plus yesterday and cannot find any difference. I'm receiving pictures from the Winter Hill transmitter.

I also receive from Winter hill, but I still have not received my upgrade. The software version on my TV is on the EPG page in the top right hand corner.

Yes, 3.00 is the latest. It was broadcast at the back end of December.

One thing I noticed is that the games work properly now. Previously, when playing 'Tetris', it took about 10 seconds for one of the blocks to move a single step.

Sony (newer sets) IDTV2 updates are available on the 22nd. My set failed to update the last time the updates were transmitted so i emailed Sony at the weekend asking for an update card, which they are glady sending. I am currently on version 2.13 but I don't know if I am getting 2.14 or a newer one.
