Sony ICD-UX80 Voice Recorder - help!

Hi there,

I have an ICD-UX80 recorder, which I used once and it worked well.

However, the next time I went to use it, the loading bar went across the screen and then froze at the end.

Does anyone have one of these, and could you send me the root files by email so I can try and reset it?

There's no manual reset for this unit. If anyone has any other ideas I'd be very grateful.

Hi all,

I'm on a Mac, so eventually I managed to get a friend to help me on his PC.

All we did was reformat the voice recorder (to FAT32).

That fixed it.

But in the interim, I sent the unit to Sony, who quoted me £73 to fix it.

They wouldn't even tell me what was wrong with it.

Ahem, excuse the caps, but;

WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH YOU, SONY; ARE YOU EVEN HUMAN?!

I've had it less than 6 months - it stops working, a software problem - you don't have any instructions on how to fix this on your website - and you quote me more money than it originally cost?!

I will never buy Sony again. Never!
