I'm currently using a Sony RDR GX7 to burn 10 minute showreels, and I'm putting up with the 8 (ish) minutes that the machine takes to finalize/verify the disc. I'm looking to upgrade to one of the new hard drive recorders, but can only justify it if it can record from the HD to a DVD-R faster than real-time... So... does anyone know if the "High Speed Dubbing" feature will speed up the process?

Dubbing and finilizing are not the same process.
On SONY you can dub in higher speed, when you do not change the recording mode. Several times faster.
