Hi all,

Have just bought and set up the Sony HTSF1000 and am genally really impressed but have a couple of niggles:

a) The front left and right speakers don't seem to have their own level adjustment.

b) The centre speaker is very treble heavy and haven't found a way to alter it. (There is a treble/bass adjustment for the front side speakers however.)

Has anyone managed to solve either of these issues and has anyone tried hooking up different speakers (i.e. an alternative centre speaker) to this unit instead of the supplied ones?

Thanks.

Tom.

^ I have noticed too that the FL and FR speakers don't have a level adjustment or at least I can't find it. My FL and FR speakers are quiet compared to the rest and if I run the AutoCal it just makes all the speakers even quieter.

I've found the same. Also seems the centre speaker is a bit weedy considering it's carrying the main dialogue/music etc. Still working on this one! Might give sony a call re speaker configs. Cheers for the reply.

Post back if you get any information from Sony. Have you run the AutoCal? When I run mine and listen to the sound output. All the speakers are loud when calibrating but after calibration the system seems quiet.

Right. Just spoke to a guy at sony who was absolutely no help whatsoever! Just told me what I already knew but as far as I can tell there is no way to alter the FR/FL level unfortunately. I did try turning up all the speaker levels to +10 and then running autocal (someone on this forum suggested it) which seems to have helped but then I have also just switched from the optical input to the coax input which according to the manual is louder anyway- if that helps? Also played around with the distance settings for each speaker just in case 'further away' makes it louder if you see what I mean, but haven't been able to sit down and really listen to any difference.
Having said all this I have just watched the opening chase sequence from casino royale (for reference of course....) and it's pretty bloody loud!! (Volume at 65 though- not too far to go from there....)

P.S. Found out you can interchange speakers providing they are the same impedance i.e. 2.7 ohms.
