    Hi All

I ordered a Sony HS50 from Gultronics on Monday - and got it today.....thats the good news...

I have done my research on these before buying one and noticed the following things......
1./ The box had an extra layer of selotape applied
2./ Although all of the manuals/remote etc were perfectly packed the PJ was loosley wrapped and had grubby fingermarks on it.....
3./ When I fired it up I noticed a prominent green tinge on the left hand side of the screen (which to me indicates serious panel misalignment)
4./ Worst of all - the lamp had 109hrs clocked on it....!!!!

Now I am going to call the muppets at Gultronics tomorrow and have a word.....
has anyone else had any similar experiances...??

It sounds like they have made a mistake and sent out a returned unit in error.

Give them a call and see what happens, before becoming too angry :)

Presume they need to open up the box to apply firmware? But it won't take 109 hrs to apply that! Agree with UrbanT, I'm sure they'll sort you out (and perhaps throw in a freebie lead for the inconvenience/disappointment? ;) )

    ...PJ :)

    Hi all
Sorry for the delayed reply - busy day today

I spoke to Lal at gultronics (yes they are based on the tottenahm court road)
My unit will be swapped for a new one on Monday (and Lal assured me he would check its is one from his latest batch - thereby ensuring the latest firmware).

    So hopefully problem solved....
still worries me though - what I had been a general consumer who would'nt have known what to check....?? anyway.....

Question for those of you running HS50's via HTPC though - will a DVI-to-DVI cable (then a VGA dongle on the PJ end) produce good results and 1:1 pixel mapping...??
    Please advise
    Thanks

I don't think general customers would have bought a HS50 and not know what to look for. The fact it was so obviously a used one sounds like it was a genuine mistake. They have rectified it pretty pronto as well by the sounds of it ? I can vouch for them as I have bought loads of gear from there and when there was the slightest problem nothing was too much trouble. £1499 for a HS50 is a stonking price.
