Sorry, it seems to be all questions from me!! One day I'll get my HC up and running and maybe then I'll be able to give to this Forum as well as take!
I can't seem to get an answer from the Sony site, so does anyone know the difference between an Sony HS50 and the HS51? Is this just regional labelling, or something more significant?
Thanks as always for any feedback.

    Hi Alan,
The HS51 is the US version and the HS50 is the european version. The fundamental features of the versions (resolution, contrast, noise, lens options etc.) are the same but there are some differences between the two versions, which I think are:-
    • HS51 has an ethernet socket on the front
    • HS51 has a USB socket at the back
    • HS51 comes with "Image Director" software on a CD, which I think is run on a PC connected through the USB socket

You can see a copy of the manual here at the sonystyle site . If you look at some of the diagrams they have a bubble out to an "HS51-only" enlargement.

I don't recall anyone getting anything out of the ethernet socket on the HS51; some techy people have tried connecting PCs and got nowhere.
