I would like to replace my Sony VPL-HS20 (720p) with Sony HW10 (1080p). The room is light controlled, movies only, screen DA-LITE 92" (16x9), throwing and sitting distance 11'-12'. A few questions:
    1. will I notice significant improvement with BD?
    2. will I notice any improvement with SD?
    3. any suggestion to buy something else? Panasonic AE3000, Epson 6500UB, Mitsubishi HC7000,....?
    Appreciate every advice, every opinion.

I can recommend the HW10. I was lucky and got one through Musical Images at a good price just before Christmas. (received the free bulb yesterday!) Although that offer is no longer current.

    The good points are:-
Excellent lens which is sharp corner to corner and I have not seen any tendency to drift.
Excellent colour fidelity. One of the best by all accounts
    Very quiet fan
    Good contrast and black levels.
    Very good UK price.

Personally I would like a little more brightness but I believe the competition is roughly the same. I am using a 120" screen. Note, there is no screen trigger.

I checked the US sites I noticed that the Panasonic was actually cheaper than the Sony. And Epson prices are just too high in the UK.
So, for once the pound is getting you a bargain from Sony.

I upgraded from an HS20, I'm more than happy with the results, as I've said in other posts it's more than an incremental upgrade.
