I purchased a sony hs10 last march and I have intermittent issues where it sometimes does not switch on. I was watching a film last week and it went off with the lamp led lit. I Phoned sony and stated this item has had less than 200 hrs and its failed slightly out of warranty , what was there advice. They told me to take it to ictv ltd farnbourough who charged me 43 pounds to produce a quote, they have just phoned me to state they cant find out whats wrong and I will have to pay more for the quote. I rang sony back to be basically told tough I am really not very happy with this and do not want to be a cash cow for ictv has anyone any advice or similar experiences. I am so put off sony right now!

Ask to speak to the manager at the Sony repair centre (0208 2832700)

This is a recognised lamp fault with the HS10 and I would push for a warranty repair based on the fact that there should have been a product recall.

Let us know how you get on

I have seen this mentioned before. Very shabby service. I dont believe in this quote just to find how much it will cost to fix business. Absolute rip off.

After 5 weeks of messing about /i got my projector back from sony, fitted it onto my ceiling bracket switched it on and well NOTHING same as when it went away bulb light flashing and no output. I phoned sony only for them to say it has to be sent away again for a unknown length of time. I will never in my lifetime purchase another Sony product. Please anyone considering buying a product from this company who ship goods they know to have issues think again.

That is indeed very poor service, they probably didn't even look at it properly if it came back in the same condition.

My experience of Sony is if it's out of warranty they seem to dis-own their products. The HS10 has a well founded very dodgy reliability history and I too would feel very insecure about it once out of warranty.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Considering how much it must have cost you when you purchased it a year ago, not good enough. I have heard of so many issues with Sony, not just in terms of reliability and service but the nice price drop of £1000 on a virtually new model left alot of people badly out of pocket.

Its no wonder people get wound up when you hear stuff like this.

I think they're minor, but they are all improvements and the bulb is far far better than the original HS10 ones.

Enjoy it, it is still one of the very finest LCD PJ's out there, nice one.
