What does everyone think of these? Have seen bits in other topics but no real reviews! Any ideas? Was a bit confusing when told that the battery can be replaced at the cost of £30! But it s actually rechageable!
There are no real reviews because it hasn't been released yet! I think it is released (at least in the UK) at the beginning of May. Yes the battery is rechargeable, and the user can replace it.
There's a prelimianry review on the T3 website (and a more comprehensive one, they say, in the magazine). Battery life and replaceability seem to be big pluses
it certainly looks the part but until I can get my sticky paws on one I'll just have to suffice with the pictures. 20gb, nice, silver one, nice, rotating screen, I like. Wonder how it will do though and what its like comparason wise with it's predecessors and competitors. Have to wait and see.
its so goddam ugly! i thought style was about the only thing sony got 100% right with the hd1/3 unless this is a major improvement i cant see it doing much more than the hd3 has, unless it uses something other than sonic stage, if its drag and drop ill get one even though i already have a hd3.
Amazon is already selling it for £199. (red, black and silver) have a look http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl/202-6427820-7173463 ... it would be interesting to read some opinions before buing... from what i've read .. i like battery life (aprox. 40 hours) and prefer vertical style as well (feel a bit more comfortable with using one hand ).. the price the same as was predictet in T3 magazine.. so will see
I really like the look and specs of it. One main improvement over its predecessors that no one seems to have mentioned is the location of the headphone socket - i.e. in the right place this time; much more pocket friendly. I wonder if the rather gimmicky switching of the orientation of the screen depending on whether it's being held portrait or landscape also swithces the functions of the menu keys. Anyone heard anything yet about any volume limitation it may suffer. Also, we hear there's a 30gb version - any news on its dimensions..?
I must admit as an I-Pod owner this device is the best looking Sony player I have seen. Whether it will eat into I-pod sales I do not know.
The style is growing on me, and having all the buttons together seems like a good idea. I like the fact the charger and usb leads plug in directly. Also the hold button looks hell of a lot less fidly than with the HD3 etc.. Add to that a bigger screen, better menu (including A-Z search and playlists), better battery (also removeable, which is better than voiding waranty on old ones), plus properly positioned headphone input. It all sounds good. But will it have the sound issues? and can they be fixed? sooner we sooner we'll know if this could be THE player to get.
Same size no doubt. Toshiba do a 30Gb version of the hard drive currently in use in the HD3's so the form factor is the same. Still say the 30Gb should have been standard though. Guess the $10 or whatever difference it is per unit eats in to their profit margin.
£200 sounds reasonable looking forward to some reviews. Judging by their previous players therell be firmware issues too. One to wait & see methinks.
Good question! The preview I saw (Guardian online, I think) said they were launching both but I've only seen the 20GB on sale. Looks good, btw, but has anyone actually tried it yet?
apparently, the Sony limited edition 30Gb version (available in silver with black buttons,ooOOOOo) has yet to be given a relase date but I bet it's not far after the 20gb version.
does that mean it will be insanely expensive? if not i may get one, i want a bigger capacity than my 20gb hd3, encoding mp3 at 320kbps really eats into the capacity.
Totally forgot I had posted this! There is a lot of literature on the sony website now! Looks amazing! Def. going to be my first sony buy of '05!
that new HD-5 looks amazing and ive been scouting around for news about it, apparently itll come with Sonic stage 3 which will hopefully be much better. also, i looked at sony website and it said it won't have a backlight, unlike the NW-HD3! bummer!
