Hi, I'm a novice and looking for a miniDV camcorder (having had a quick browse, this seems to get the nod from most) for family stuff, and the Sony machines seem a good bet. So convince me that I should spend an extra £200 on the HC40... or will the HC18 prove perfectly satisfactory.

I don't need lots of features, just want something that is easy to use and will allow me to transfer footage onto DVD easily (via PC presumably).

    So, whaddyasay?
