sony guarantees?

I'm considering buying the 32ex403, my neighbour recently got one from the sony centre with a "free" 5 year warranty, i know i can buy the set for a bit less elsewhere, and i'm sure you get a 3 year guarantee as standard on sony tv's anyway.....doe's anyone know for certain?

The back of my 503's manual says that Sony give a minimum of 2 years guarantee as standard.
