    Hi everyone,

A new Sony plasma has just come into our market (where the Panny's are still seriously overpriced) advertising a 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Has anyone got an opinion on this before I consider purchasing?

Is this high contrast of any real benefit? Are the Sony plasmas any good? Also, if you check the specs they mention a very low brightness, is this correct?

You can view all the details at the local Sony web site but here are the basic specs:

    Panel Size 42"
    Display Resolution 852 dots x 480 lines
    Number of Colours 1.07 billion
    Pixel Pitch (H x V) mm 1.08 x 1.08
    Panel Brightness 500 cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio 10000 : 1

Alternatively, the older Sony model, the PFM-42V1A is being offered at a fair discount, any experienced owners of this unit care to share your opinions of it?

    Thanks

No one owns a Sony ??? Or seen one?

Is that an indication that I should stay away?
