I have been an FS70 owner for more than a year, but recently my set was swapped out.

I have noticed that on a very dark (black) screen, the extreme left/right edges of the screen appear bright.. Almost like there is something white, just out of view off the side of the screen.

I don't remember this on my previous sets, but that doesn't mean it was there.

To reproduce it, I can simply select Teletext in a really dark room. This put black borders around everything and shows the problem at the left/right.

Could someone please check this out for me?

    Jon

What did you replace it with? Are you happy with whatever you have now?

    Jon,
Went the RP route and am now converted. I would say however that a "Good" Sony 36 is the best CRT picture of this size out there.

It seems rather difficult to find them though!!

    Regards

    Jon,

I'm in Holland this week but i'll check my telvesion at the weekend, I always watch tv in the dark (much to the missus annoyance!)

I think I would have notices this problem though, but i'll look into it.

    Hi Jon,

I have only had the Sony for a week now, and fingers crossed I am extremely happy with the quality of picture.

However, you are right!!! My TV is the same as yours. Mind you it is only noticable in a dark room at the far extremes of the picture.

Thanks for pointing this out. Its going to bug me now :)

Do you know where I would find a detailed explanation of all the settings in the service menu?
