Can anyone tell me if the Sony DVPNS300 can play SVCD discs
I would think not but then it said it didnt play dvd audio and it did but it didnt play vcd like it said
Sorry cant be more help!
So your saying it dosen't play VCD's either !
i very much doubt ANY players play DVD-A as Sony firmly believe in SACD!!
yes when i tried a vcd on it it didnt work
and yes mjn it does play dvd audio even though it said in the manual it didnt
more than likely its playing a dvd-v track, but without the picture, as some discs have this.
The DVPNS300 definitely does not play DVD-A.
As MJN says, it's more than likely picking up the regular DVD soundtrack and playing that back - AFAIK any DVD-A disc can be played on any DVD player this way.
To take advantage of DVD-A you need a built in decoder, and a multi channel output on the player to output the signal - neither of which the NS300 has
A full specification/compatability list for the NS300 can be found here by the way.
Regular VCD appears to be supported but SVCD is a no go
thanks kelvin....there is just no telling some people
well it plays through my amp and sounds brilliant and i still get a picture and it also shows me the video footage of the dvd
i know it doesnt do it exactly as it should but still seems fine to me
