Press the following buttons on the remote with the player in standby.

Press Title,Clear and Power On buttons one after another the player should power up into the service menu.

Be careful as you could change some of the settings in there and this could have adverse effects on your player.

maybe there is an option for multi region or auto region.

This is simply a laser calibration, and firmware info option.

This, and other models of this age (1998/9!) can only be modified via a physical firmware chip replacement, which on this model involves removing a 44 pin TSOP device (surface mount device) -not an easy job, which requires SMT tools and opening the unit (which on this model involves stripping down the unit to access the mpeg board!)

More importantly, due to its age, hardly anyone offers the chips for it any more other then the odd modification supplier.

Sorry, no easy way to do it.
