    Hello my helpful friends..
I have bought a Japanese dvd boxset at a car boot sale but it wont play on my player. Will some players play mpeg 2 and some not?
Someone told me that if I switch my tv over to ntsc I will be able to watch them. Is this true?
    Thanks for any advice.

You have a couple of options depending on type and age of equipment. Firstly Japan is region 2 so your DVD player should accept the disk. If the DVD is not your disks may not be originals. Secondly your DVD player should have options in its setup menu on how to treat NTSC disks. It should opt to output them as NTSC or (ususally) PAL(60). If your TV does not like NTSC opt for PAL. This option may also be catered for by a switch on the back. Another option is to swap TV inputs. Some TV's only accept NTSC on their RGB input. Hope some of this helps.
