Why don't you try the 905. I had mine delivered this morning.

Will post later to say what it's like.

Theres a link to what it looks like on page 2 of this forum I think.

Theres also a review in this months "Essential home cinema."

Looks a lot like the old 735 and is the replacement of the "old" 900.

Will see how it performs when I get home!

    OK,

appears to be excellent. No wide screen switching problems.

Picture and sound are top drawer and equal my Arcam Diva through RGB scart.

    Operation is smooth and silent.

CD replay is good but not as good as the DV88 was. SACD is excellent again.

Remote is acceptable but at least four steps back. (735 remote being my favourite).

All in all an extremely accomplished player.

    PaulR,

the 905 is £379 from multiregionmagic. So only £30 more.

The 900 is officially discontinued but new stocks are coming in.

The 900 is excellent. I had one.

However, personally it's a bit of a no brainer. The 905 has all the 900 had (good remote aside), faster chipset for video and improved (i recall) chipsets for the rest.

You may feel the looks are not as good, which is fine.

I would wholeheartedly recommend you try and get a demo! £349 is a lot if you decide you do want a 905!

I got mine from Techtronics. I doubt they are the cheapest (beware the VAT mgith not be added!) but they gave good service and the mod is fantastic.

Oh, and yes Sony did fix the RGB problems. There was also a problem with source switching but Techtronics assured me that was all resolved - they had stopped selling the player until Sony pulled their finger out.
