sony dvd player sound up and down?

i have a sony cd/dvd player connected to a sony KV-28LS60U tv and when i play a dvd , every now and again throughout the film the sound goes quieter then back upagain .the dvd plays ok on the ps2 , so i think its the dvd player , its connected using scart lead , could it need something changing in the menu or settings, it does it on more than one dvd . thanks

In most DVD players audio setup it has an option Dynamic Compression (DRC), switch it to off.
