    Hi

I was thinking about purchasing this particular machine. (because I will be using full size DV tape, possibly DVcam tape depending on camera purchased and with the option of using mini DV if required).
With various projects that I film and with the set up I have now I like to "audio dub" a sound track onto the other track ( S-VHS as now) or when I upgrade to the digital format onto the other two tracks available.
What I would like to know from anyone using the SONY DSR 11 DVcam VCR is, is it possible to "audio dub" from say a hi-fi system straight to the Sony DSR 11. Also are there any other foilbles through using this machine that you can mention.

A second question is what other options in the DV range of VCR's have I got given the info above.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Cheers

The DSR11 does not Audio Dub.

An alternative to the DSR11 is the JVC Professional BR-DV3000.

I should be borrowing a demo BR-DV3000 from JVC soon.

Checking the brochure there is an Audio Dub button!

The JVC plays DV, DVCAM and records DV in both sizes.

The price looks tempting (around 1450 ex VAT).

I had a look on JVC website for this machine, but it seemed quite basic info and there wasn't a picture available, it did sound like it was upto the job. Question though- does it have firewire in -and - out connection. The best way is to be able to get your hands on one in the flesh. How did you manage to wangle borrowing one from JVC

    Cheers

The BR-DV3000 is basically a DSR-11 clone with DV in/out on 4pin, audio dub, audio meters, the only thing it does not do is record DVCAM so all it's recordings will be DV, but it plays DVCAM.

The early peek is because I build professional edting systems and supply JVC Pro kit.

For more details go to JVC Pro USA

Any idea if the BR-DV3000 'audio dubs' to DV cam.

Please keep me informed of your findings when you've had a chance to play.
By the way, don't suppose you know of anyone selling a Sony DSR200 camera or a VX 9000, possibly a DSR250 at a push.

    Cheers
