Sony Dsc H1 - Wide Angle Converter

I'm fairly new to photography & bought myself a Sony DSC H1 for starting off. I recently added a wide angle converter lens to broaden my options. When I use the wide angle lens & the camera on minimum zoom I noticed that the corners of each picture have a black curve. This disapears at1.5x zoom.
Is this the norm when adding a wide converter?

yeah you usually get that, pretty harsh huh? zooming almost negates the use of the wideangle anyway but your image may well round off at the edges and theres not a whole bunch you can do about it.
Its sometimes possible to clone out the corners if its on sky and such but otherwise you could crop to a wider format to get rid of the black corners
