Does anyone else have one of these, if so what firmware version do you use and what make of blank DVD's.

I bought some bulkdata 8x disks from Novatech which won't work so I don't want to get it wrong again.

    Cheers,
    Rich

I had a 500A using 2.1a using Ritek -R x4s just fine., never tried 8xs as I had no need.

My 510 only burns at 4x so I only buy 4 speed discs - I always buy the ones using the Ritek G04 dye and always -R discs - I've never had a problem.
If you buy from SVP (aka blankdiscshop) they give a list of compatible drives for each type of blank media. I'm sure I've seen somewhere that you shouldn't use 8x discs if your drive can't write and 8x.

:) .. easily done, you'll just have to force 4x speed on these 8x discs and they should be okay.
