I need a digital camcorder that can produce good quality video but also good quality stills as I am fed up of lugging an SLR camera and camcorder everywhere with me. Out of the two I have listed, which is the best choice?

I don't expect SLR quality, but how do they compare to decent quality digital stills cameras?

Same as Dcamera with the Same number of Pixels!

3 CCD( P500) I heard are not so good for stils as 1 CCD DV Cams.

Hi

I would like to know which you have decided and would like to know the results as I too am contemplating between these two models.
The store guy says the MX500 is overall better due to fact that the MicroMV non avi format blah blah blah!
Your advise is greatly appreciated.

Buy the Panasonic NV-MX500 unless you need to do video recordings in low light situations.

Got me the IP220E PAL.
Wonderful unit.
Compared it side by side with the PAN and the PAN looks like a damn brick.
Had initial problems with the MMV format but managed to get a workaround and now editing via Studio8 and Ulead.
No problems at all.
