Is there any free software that can restore / uninstall videos deleted from the camera? Both the MPEG and the related MODD file have to be restored. I am not looking for software that has to be bought if the files are found.

I have been a member here for years with the user name kgun, but my account has been deleted for a reason or another. May be I have been too inactive. It has more been like a sleeping account. Is it possible to find my old account, threads and posts and join the two?

I can't remember having to register to use Recuva.
Recuva often shows video files as being recovered and in excellent condition, but they still turn out to be unplayable, worth a try I suppose, but don't get your hopes up too much.

Unplayable? Did you read the post on my bulletin board? I tried WonderShare: Digital Camera Data Recovery Software for Windows & Mac OS X and got the following message:

Warning: If your lost files are found, please DO NOT run other software in case files are overwritten.

I found 72 files all of the same size that made me suspicious. So I tried other software.

It takes more than 2 hours to scan the 60 Gb haddrive.
