Does anybody know how I can make it multi-region? Via remote control?
Have you checked out

Thanks for the link. V. useful info. Unfortunately, they have no Sony hacks at all!
Have you tried Sony remote hacks from other machines yet ?
wait till 'no disc' tray closed,
press 'subtitle' '3,8,7,6,7'
wait for message, press 9.
According to some websites/forums, Sonys can't be hacked by remote control!
Do the instructions you give work? I'm worried in case it screws things up!
Especially if they're not specific to this actual model.
Au contrare Many Sony's can be hacked by remote control.
Found this too, for a DAV model:
Put the player into Standby mode
Press 1 and Return on remote for region 1, 2 and Return for region 2, and so on. Use 0 and Return to return player to default region settings
Press P-Mode and Return to play DVD's with the selected region, auto-switching is Off
Press Audio and Return for auto-switching On
Press Angle and Return for MacroVision On
Press Subtitle and Return for MacroVision Off
Great! I'll try the one for DAV-S300. I'll see if I have a P-Mode button on my remote for the DAVSA30. What's Macrovision? Region 0 means it will play in all settings I guess?
Hi all, saw the discussion about remote hacks for this model, just wondered if Tony got any luck with the code from Flimber? Grateful for any help you can give. Ian
I have the hack for Sony DAV-S880. Must be done via the IR on a laptop PC. Let me know if you want to give it a try.

Also sony can be hacked with a one for all chameleon apparantly. This can be bought from Argos. I personally hack using laptop and winsamp or palm. Done 4 sonys this way
