Sony DAVS800 problems

Hi

Can anyone shed any light on this problem I'm having with my DAVS800 one-box job?

After inserting a disk, I often don't get any audio at all - just silence. The problem has been getting steadily worse. I'm guessing it's somehting to do with the format decoding. I can usually solve it by repeatedly switching throught the "sound field" settings until one eventually grabs an audio signal.

Has anyone heard of this before and is there a simple cure (apart from the obvious one of sending it back where it came from!)

having exactly the same problem, and also found the same solution.

Nowadays, though, its rare that even that works.

i find it better if it has been physically turned off (rather than put on standby)
