    Hi,

Going to purchase a system for my new house, out of the above, which would people recommend (sony is £600 vs bose/yamaha £750).

    Any help would be appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Olli

    Hi olli
Have a look at the yamaha htib-65 at empire direct £450 its a full separates system easily upgradable you would have enough left to buy a separate cd player and good cables and would blow the above combinations in to the weeds.

Do make sure you actually go and listen to these things with something you know and like.....also look at some of the Bose related threads before you buy.

    Hi Nathan
My wifes uncle whose a multi millioner had a huge house built he then made inquires about bose systems. The hifi shop involved told him you couldnt get much better than bose so he paid £27,000 and had five systems installed. When we went over he switched one of the systems on to show how good the thing sounded (ignorance is bliss) anyway pretended to be impressed but could of cried to think what you could have had instead so it proves people still pay silly money just for the name not for the performance, but what do us paupers know we'r only jealous.

As an ex-Bose user  I really could NOT recommend them.
The bass was lacking and there were gaps in the frequency range.
I added an active MS subwoofer, and this just showed up the weaknesses else where on the speakers.
Admittedly I was not feeding them from the best AV amp (Sherwood), but I then upgraded and before hooking up my new speakers fed the Bose with the 3802. It was better, but still not great.
IMO for the money there are far better speakers.

    Mark.
