I am still trying to decide which All-in-one system to go for. I like the Sony kit and wondered if anyone had any views on the SC5?

    Many thanks.

Not sure you'll get any response to this because as you will see most posts relate to Denon systems, no other systems seem to matter.

I agree with that - unless you own a Denon you will ignored and your name will be forwarded to a governement agency where you will identied as a non-denonite and liable for arrest. Maybe even public flogging. I own a Awia system and have built a secret room behind a wardrobe. But don't tell anyone.

hi gillw,we bought a dav sc5 at xmas for my son ,and i can honestly say it was fine for two days, then all mother of things started to happen.firstly it would go onto standby mode for hours ,then it would not eject discs, turning the power off at the wall and then back on after a couple secs seemed to fix it,then dvds would freeze when watching movies only to go back to the start of the film.(by this time i had lost it,iam sure its orbiting the moon by now),took it back to the shop who replaced the unit, which is working fine up till now,

    Hi there
I have a sony dav sc5 system and I am already on my second system within 6 months with the same problems as above....if you follow this link it will take you to people who also have problems with the dav system and some mention about there being a fault with the sony video chip which needs changing.

Have had a sc-5 for 13 months now and has been an excellent buy. Mainly used as receiver as have a second system for watching dvd's. When we do use it with dvd's it works fine. Only concern is with the bass level which can be overpowering. We only have the sub on when watching films.

Thanks for the replies guys. I had heard that there were problems with this model which seemed to be linked to overheating/ discs not eject etc.

I think I will have a chat with my local Sony store!
