    Hi

I have DAVS550 and am very happy with the CD sound quality, the speakers are rated at 50 watts each and 100 watts for sub woofer, dont personally like PLII Music mode and play CD's in stereo only, volume is plenty loud enough for a small room.

I have the 550, and I think the CD/music quality is poor. On the
other hand I think the movie audio quality is quite good.

Seems like there's quality problems - aside from the firmware
bugs - Sony repair has parts on backorder and units waiting
for repair. How do you know in advance whether your unit has
the "good" firmware or not... Do you want to wrestle with Sony
    to get it fixed??

I'd steer away from these models for a while...

It is, however, a very attractive piece of gear.
