Sony DAV-DZ230 .avi playback?

Hey All

I picked up the all in one DZ330 to replace my parents old SB100 system and want to take some films over for them.
Does anyone know if I can burn off a udf formatted dvd-r, fill it with .avi's and it work okay?

Also: the device has a 'DM input' device which looks suspiciously like a usb input, will it recognise a ext hdd formatted to HFS+ and see .avi films?

Dont know if the 230 will play .avi's but i once had a older model 500f which played home movies burnt in this format.

if you mean the DAV-DZ230,as i dont think there is a 330,then yes,it plays divx off disc,but you cannot attach a hard drive to the usb lookey-likey port(its actually a DMport),attachments for that cost about £100.(for ipod/DAB,etc).
