I have a Sony 800 system which is just under 2 years old. One of the front speakers has started to distort and I was quoted £350 to replace the two small speaker cones within this speaker.

As the cones are pretty much standard, and no more than 3" in diameter it seemed an awful lot of money. In fact one speaker unit would cost over half the price of the whole system including 5 other speaker units.

To cut a long story straight I have now received an offer from Sony customer service to pay for parts and half of the labour, leaving me to pay £35.

Has anyone else had the same problem & a better result?

Incidentally, has anyone had problems with the connectors at the back of the system unit, mine seem to keep losing connection although they are firmly plugged in??
