A friend of mine has upgraded to a new projector, Sharp 12000 DLP LCD and I have purchased the Sony D50ht from him with 800 hrs, and no burn.

    My question is:

Will my Arcam DV-88, no progessive scan, work through the Component inputs on the D50HT.

Is there a need to invest in a video scaler?

Well the HT has an internal doubler but Its only upto 576p..via the RGB there would be an improvement with a scaler.
But to be fair I would keep the Sony as is for the time being until you are ready to upgrade to 8" then get a scaler.
