Looking to get some cheap batteries for my Sony Cybershot HX9V, but am confused as to whether Sony have a firmware on there that will stop me using non-genuine batteries?

Looks like the issue is that some 3rd party batteries apparently won't charge "in-camera" but are fine used in camera if charged externally...

i have just ordered this for my hx9v, after much reading, seem to get a good review. maybe the same item as you linked too. not sure

Thanks guys, I think I will get an external charger as well. I wanted one anyway, my last camera came with one and I'd miss if if I didn't have one.
