Hi all,

First post... I have a new CRT specifically for old school games from my youth.

I've got an old ish PC with an Nvidia GT610 with VGA / HDMI and DVI out.

The TV is a 28" Sony CRT KV-28FS20U.

I'm using a converter (HDMI to RCA)

For the most part everything is working as expected.

My front end is Retrobat and the systems I've got games for are listed here:

MAME
SNES
Mega drive.
Master system
32X
Neogeo
NES
Psx
PSP

All the games and artwork / videos are set up and ready to be played, all emulators are played with retroarch via Retrobat.

Windows:

Created a custom resolution of 640x480 using progressive at 60Hz

Have made all cores from Retrobat use the preferred core screen ratios.

I'm unable to get the old 320x240p to work correctly, it just looks off, I've got cru and CRT emu driver but obviously without an AMD card it won't work.

I've also got a VGA to SCART converter but they yielded worse results with the screen being off center..

Does anyone else know how to get it set up so it shows the true representation of the old school games ..I think it's to do with the timings within the nvidia custom resolution, my current Khz is 30, I've heard that 15Khz is the correct number to have but am struggling so far to get it to work.

Does anyone have any ideas who's done this before?

Cheers.

Ps: sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Edit: just found out about super resolution.

Going to try whatever super resolution is in retro arch (CRT res is already active but I changed super res to none for some reason)

So the idea is to set the resolution in Nvidia under custom to.

Super res: 2560 or whatever it's set to
Vertical: 240

120hz GTF timing. Hopefully creating 31khz

Then set 2560 to horizontal in retroarch.cfg

Then set v-sync in retro arch to 2

Then test
Thrn

Can't say about using a crt but I think retroarch on a modern display has filters to look like old crt display
Its in the options when you load an older system ... pretty sure it was on youtube on applying the filters for psx at least

No that doesn't help bud, it's a CRT TV so no need for filters when I have the real thing, ideally I need help from someone who's actually done this before.

I'll be testing this.

Was simply saying it seems a lot of work over emulating the crt effect

There is this section on config ... not sure if you have already seen it:

Ita more like forcing the native "resolution", the response is improved as well as clarity and input lag.

As far as I've read it's more than emulating a visual effect...

I'll give the article a read, cheers.
