Sony camcorders only do A/D

    Are Sony's carmcorders the only brand that can covert analogue 8mm to Digital? Panasonic are getting better reviews (low/mid range) but not sure if they can be used for the conversion.


    Want to get 8mm to computer for editing.

    Says the bloke who is asking questions himself about camcorders. You can get a card to plug in to you PC for editing analogue material. But is this then digital or analogue? I think the former!

    If you already have an 8mm camcorder, wouldn't the simple solution be to buy a digital camcorder that has a video input, then tape from 8mm to Digital (8 or miniDV)? You could then edit digitally without losing quality until the final dump down to VHS.
