No need to root

It seems that Sony Mobile are about introduce native support for the DUALSHOCK 3 PS3 controller to its Xperia, meaning you can use the controller to play Android/PlayStation Mobile games without the need for a root and additional software, according to a report on the Xperia Blog.

The new functionality was spotted in the upcoming Sony Xperia SP (C530X) settings menu (Settings > Xperia), where there is a ‘DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller’ menu option. INitial connection is done via an USB-OTG cable but once that is out of the way, the cable can be removed and the phone and controller are connected via Bluetooth.

Once first connection procedures have been followed, there's no need to use the cable again as it's just a matter of holding to the PS Button, on the controller, to re-establish communications.
