Hi all,
I bought the Nintendo Switch OLED model about 2 weeks back. I had been playing on my Sony Bravia XH90 TV, no problems for about a week.
Then a few days back my Switch started to have problems connecting to the TV. When I go to the HDMI 1 channel, it would say "No signal".
After about an hour of playing around, I figured I could force it to work (once) by going to Settings > Channel and Inputs > External Inputs > External Device Setup.
After a few more days of playing around with it I have figured the following:
So my question now is:
Thank you
I bought the Nintendo Switch OLED model about 2 weeks back.
- I have a 60% success rate of Switch connecting if I haven't used the Switch in a while
- Once it connects, if I then turn it off and then turn back on immediately, I have a 10% success rate of it connecting
- Going through Settings method gives me a 100% success rate (but obviously I don't want to do this every time)
- I have tested my Switch on another monitor and it works immaculately (turning the Switch on and off several times in a row registers with the monitor immediately) which leads me to believe it is the TV, and rules out the Switch itself.
- From memory (which is pretty poor), I believe I did one of those TV updates recently, which I believe could be the problem (I once updated my TV and my bluetooth headphone stopped connecting. After the next update they worked again - so I am presuming sometimes three could be buggy updates?)
- I would have thought if it was an software/firmware update issue other people might have this issue, but can't find anyone with a similar issue on the internet.
- I have played around with a lot of the settings to no avail
- I have restarted my TV, power reset it and even did a factory reset, still not working properly.
- I have tested with different HDMI cables with no changes in results, which rules out the cable.
- When I click the "Source input" button to bring up the inputs menu, the HDMI 1 box is "grey" colour when my Switch is off. When I turn my Switch on, it will 100% turn "green", i.e. suggesting that it is recognising it. However whether it actually connect through goes back to the percentages above. What does this mean? It sees it, but not connecting?
- On the internet some people have had issues with connecting, due to the "order" in which they connect the power, then the HDMI then the TV and Switch, I have done this, no results.
- The only other thing that I can think of that I have done differently to the first week is that I have now added a screen protector to my Switch, however I think this is ruled out by me testing it on another monitor.
- I have called Sony Support and they couldn't help.
So my question now is:
- Anyone have the same model TV as me, and also Switch and have the same problems?
- Any ideas on how to fix this?
- If it is the updates fault, how do I view the log history of the updates on my TV? It would be good because then I can see what individual updates were made and if that could be the culprit.
- How often do updated get rolled out? I am hoping the next update may fix this. If not, I seriously may cry. Brand new TV and Brand new console. Sad.
Thank you
