    Hi All,

    I've recently got a Sony Bravia... KDL42W653.

The picture whilst watching HD through a Freeview aerial is fine. We are very impressed. However, we have bought a Sony Blu-Ray player (the BDP-S185) and last night started watching Planet Earth. It is a BD, and says it is filmed in high-definition cameras. However, during some fast scenes and sunset scenes etc - the picture is very grainy and looks like there is a lot of static (like you used to get on analog aerials).

I am not sure which settings to even begin playing with... if anyone could advise that would be great.

    Many thanks,
    Amnesia

Maybe it's meant to look like that.
    Have you tried other BDs?

Hi, thank you for the reply.
I have seen Avatar and Total Recall on BD aswell, both of them were fantastic picture all the way through. However, I have seen this episode on the TV (recorded on the TV Box in HD) and the same scenes are not grainy at all... it seems to just be on the BD.

Turn all of the picture enhancements off or to low :) Look in the owners thread and picture perfect forum to see if settings have been posted

I had this same issue with Planet earth on a 1080p samsung afew years ago. Certain scenes(very few in total though) had what the op describes. I tried the same BR on a 1080i samsung and the static was gone in said scenes.

So maybe certain Tv's pick up the static in planet earth. Have never had the issue on any other BR or video source since.
