Hi this is my first venture onto these forums. I've seen the above described 50" Sony Bravia advertised at £1399 including stand.

I have no prior knowledge of this technology and wondered is it the best way to spend this kind of money or am I better looking elsewhere.

I'd be really grateful for any assistance. :)

    Regards

    GM

Link to where you saw that?
Sounds far too good to be true, unless its a rear projection LCD TV, in which case, there's a specific forum for that type of technology.
It seems that's the case - only it's the KDF-E50A12.
Ask over on the other forum, should be able to help with any questions you have and warn you of any pitfalls.
On a personal level, whilst size isn't everything, I'd choose a 37" or 40" LCD TV over a rear pro - just looks so much better style and image-wise.
    But, to each their own.
Hope you're happy with whichever TV you wind up getting.

Thanks very much for that prompt reply and yes your right just got back from the Sony site and indeed it is a rear projection tv.

The advert I saw was genuinely misleading.

I agree with you about the 37" or 40" LCD....I'll start doing my homework using this forum :D

    Thanks again much appreciated
