I have just been reading that Sony have unveiled their Blue-Ray DVD player in the States it is selling for £2500. And the disc are said to hold 8 times the info of normal DVD’s.
Sorry if the info is scant, so was the article.

So, where do you buy DVDs with eight times as much content in them? ;)

    Are there any blue-ray DVDs?

to some degree both of these questions are academic.

Blu-Ray is designed primarily to offer a disc based method of storing HDTV. As a recorder, its use is not dependant upon having prerecorded software. As the DVD consortium has not made any final decision on HDDVD this may represent Sony trying to bump them into a blu ray endorsement.

As for playback of DVD - havent a clue if it does - would be a nice extra (in the way that CDs playback on DVD) but hardly a neccesity. After all how realistic would it be that a blu ray owner would "not" have a DVD player?
