I have a Sony BDP S350. For some reason it will play any Blu-ray or DVD disc I insert, but it doesn't recognize any CD's. These are store bought CD's I've had for years and will play on other players. I've tried about 10 different one's with the same results. I get the message "cannot play". I'm at a loss for what may be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a drive issue. I had a brand new Sony 800XM2 BR machine that would only play BRs. It wouldn't recognise DVDs or CDs. The drive needs replacing. It may well be cheaper to buy a new machine if you don't have any warranty cover. The Sony S6700 is a good bet if you don't need anything fancy.

A composite drive such as this will have three separate lasers for the three major disc types; CD/DVD/BD as each requires different light properties. My best guess would be that the CD laser is failed or dirty, and the other two are good (enough).
