I have a Sony 900 and I am trying to create DVD copies of Letterboxed 16:9 (ie non-anamorphic) movies from VHS and am tying myself in knots with the aspect ratios.

Do I record to the hard drive as 4:3 and then dub to disc in 4:3, record in 16:9 and dub in 16:9 or any combination of the above?

Unfortunately the only TV I can check them on is an old Philips widescreen so I can always manually adjust the ratio to get the correct picture. This doesnt actually help me getting the initial recording correct however!

    Any help appreciated.
