Sony Announce Clip-on Walkman

Once kings of the music-on-the-move market, Sony, have just announced a new, somewhat petite, entrant to the market in the shape of the Walkman Music Clip. Weighing just 28g and less than 10cm long, the Music Clip sports a two-tone finish in a choice of contrasting colours.

Sony say despite its size the Music Clip will not be short of bass performance and there's a Boost button for more low-end power and the colour matching power illuminator pulses in time with the music. Sony are quoting a generous sounding 18 hour battery life and there's a quick charge function that they say gives 90 minutes worth of charge from a mere 3 minutes of charging.

New for this year's Walkman range is a detachable clip that attaches the clip to a belt, or whatever you fancy, and there's ZAPPIN song search technology that lets you browse quickly through all your music. Just touch the ZAPPIN button to preview a short snatch of each track without searches through menus or playlists.

The new Walkman Music Clip NWZ-B160 range of 'ultra-portable' MP3 players will be available from the middle of this move.

This design from Sony has been around for many years, down to the quick charge feature. All they have done is attached a physical clip to the back! Pretty sure they had a hole for lanyard attachment anyway so the slight change to a clip design is only of mild interest. Must try harder Sony

This post could have been made in 2006 and we'd have still said :boring:.

I'd like to know what is 'new' about it.
