Sony Amplifier and speaker impedance

Hello,

I have a Sony HT-DDW890 amplifier and would like to connect a set of of KEF C1 speakers but have noticed the nominal impedance on the speakers is 8 ohms but the specification for the Sony amp states it does not support 04 ohm \ 8ohm switching and is 6 ohms only.

Will the speakers work on this amp and if so will this difference in impedance affect quality?

Thanks
Wayne

The speakers will work, but take care not to over do the volume levels. You may find this article of some use:

With solid state amps, it's preferable to have too high impedance speakers than too low impedance speakers, so as advised they'll be fine.
But also as advised, be sensible with the volume, as the amp will, in effect, be working harder for any given volume.
