a workmate is upgrading his 'system' and is offering to sell his old sony 925 surround amp to me for £170.
i was wondering if this was a good price, also what exactly are the features of the amp, has anyone owned one and if so how was it, is it the model before the 930 as my m8 has one and it seems quite good.
i have a wharfdale 750dvd and a 32" toshiba flatscreen pro logic tv. would upgrading to a dd/dts amp in a 4.25*3.75m room be worth it?

    cheers for any help.

Not sure about second hand prices but the 925 is the model before the 930 which is the model before the 1070

It is definately worth while upgrading to 5.1

If your room is big enough to take a 32" television it is big enough to take the sound that ought to go with it.

its a nice amp, and served me well for 3 years & 200+ dvds.

just got a new amp in December and sold mine to my Dad for £125-150 (including speaker cable & interconnects).

when you consider you could get a 930/940 for not much more (£200-250) with a warranty, £170 for the 925 seems a little bit high though.
you could probably get a brand new cheapish dd/dts amp from Richer Sounds for this (not as good though).

its slightly lower powered than the 930, but very nice in 5.1dd/dts.. just about okay in stereo, especially if you
go optical rather than use standard phonos.

Pity you missed Currys selling the 1070 for £299.99 recently.
