sony 940 ..any good .ps why 90rms to surrounds?

    just checking the 940 reciever for a friend and am looking for some feedback.was wondering why so much power to the surrounds.regards jimmy.

    An AV amp should have equal power on all 5 driven channels (7 if applicable).

    Have had the 940 mfor about 3 weekd now, ver impressed with it. Loads of power, clarity and seperation. Good with music too.

    Equal power to all the channels is part of the Dolby spec. I suspect it's the same for EX, ES and DTS discrete 6.1.
