Sony 900 running hot

My new Sony DSP NV900 seems to run very hot compared to other players I have used.

Is this a standard characteristic of the player?

I wouldn't say that mine was really HOT but it does get warmer than my old Sony 300.

I have a 905 which is on a seperate shelf, with plenty of clearance for cool air to circulate. I had it playing cds for over 9 hours continuously and it was bearly warm.
Is your player in a stack of equipment or solo?
