Could someone tell me if this player can play DVD-R? I know that the specs on the Sony web site say it does, but I'd prefer someone who has a player to confirm it for me.

    Thanks in advance.

    yes it does.

I have the DMR-E20 to burn and they work fine on my NS900.

Only some very, very cheap quality DVD-R's won't be recognised in the Sony.;)

could you tell me please what dvd-r do you use in your sony 900...

i must have had some of the very, very cheap quality ones (unbranded... from work) which, as you quite rightly suggest, don't work.

    Thanks

Any gen 2 and beyond will work in the Sony.

Princo, Datasafe, FWS, Whitelabel etc etc.tend to have good compatibility.

I had some unbranded ones, think they were Vivastar. Which are cr*p for recording and compatibility.

Thanks for your replies. I have mainly TDK and some un-branded Princos, burned on DMR E20, so I think I should be safe enough.
